Age facts worth knowing
- Age limits apply from your birthday. “18 or older” means from the start of your 18th birthday, not the day after.
- Leap-day birthdays legally fall on March 1 in some countries (e.g. the UK) and February 28 in others (e.g. New Zealand).
- Korean age is mostly history. Since June 28, 2023, Korea uses international age by default, so a Korean friend’s age now matches yours.
FAQ
How is age calculated?
Subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract one more if your birthday hasn’t happened yet this year. For months and days, the calculator counts full months since your last birthday, then the remaining days.
How old am I if I was born in 2000?
If you were born in 2000, you turn 26 on your 2026 birthday — so you’re 25 before it and 26 after it. Enter your full date of birth for the exact answer.
What is Korean age?
Korea traditionally counted everyone as 1 at birth and added a year every January 1. Since June 28, 2023, Korean law uses international age (만 나이) by default, but “year age” (current year minus birth year) is still used for things like buying alcohol and military service.
What if I was born on February 29?
In non-leap years this calculator treats March 1 as your birthday, so your age goes up on March 1. Some countries legally use February 28 instead.
Can I calculate age on a specific date?
Yes. Change “Age on” to any past or future date to see how old someone was or will be on that day.
Is my birthday saved?
No. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere — the calculation runs entirely in your browser.
